They will then use approximately 15-20 injections of Kybella® depending on your unique needs and treatment plan. This injection process typically takes 20 minutes or less, making this a convenient “lunch break” procedure.

Many patients find success with two or three sessions spaced about a month apart, but you can have up to six Kybella® treatments.

Though Kybella® doesn’t generally require downtime, it’s normal to experience significant swelling for the first few days, so some patients prefer to schedule on a Friday and recover over the weekend. Mild bruising and tenderness are also expected during this time.

You should avoid strenuous exercise until the swelling has dissipated, and it’s important not to rub or massage the treatment area. If needed, you can use an ice pack to manage discomfort, but avoid blood-thinning medications like aspirin for about a week.

After your treatment, the Kybella® injections destroy fat cells so they can no longer store fat. Most patients begin seeing results after their second session, which will continue to improve over time and with further treatments. Once you reach your finalized results, you should notice a slimmer, tighter neck and a more defined jawline.

  • It is common for some patients to experience nausea and headaches after the treatment.

Severe side effects:

  • There’s a potential risk of an allergic reaction to the injectable treatment procedure.
  • If the marginal mandibular nerve is hit during the treatment session, there’s a chance that you may develop facial muscle weakness, making it challenging to swallow or even smile without experiencing pain.
  • The area around the treatment region can end up having dead tissues, causing excessive numbness and an inability to feel any sensations.
  • You may experience hair loss in the area where the injectable treatment was carried out.
