Breast Implants: What You Should Know
October 24, 2017
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so we have put together a basic overview of breast implants. For those considering breast augmentation, it is important to know what to expect and how to care for your breast implants to ensure optimal breast health.
Breast Implants
Women who are considering breast implants should be sure to receive a breast examination with mammogram to have a baseline of their breast health, especially after the age of 40. It is also important to be aware that breast implants that are not placed under the muscle can make breast screening a little more difficult. This is why monitoring is very important, and women should report any unusual symptoms to their doctor ASAP. Self-examinations and mammograms are great ways to stay on top of your breast health and detect any early signs of cancer, should they present themselves. The earlier breast cancer is detected, the more successful treatments will be.
Breast Implant Revision
While breast implants can be long-lasting, they are not lifetime devices. It is strongly encouraged to have your breasts examined by a board certified plastic surgeon after having your implants for more than eight years, to ensure that there are no complications. Ruptures can also occur, after which a breast implant revision can be done to replace your implants.

Check Out Our October Promotions
At Pacific Center, along with traditional saline and silicone implants, we offer the Ideal Implant, a saline implant that looks and feels like silicone implants, without the worry about silent rupture. Created specifically with women’s breast health in mind, these implants are proven safe and reliable. They have a lower rupture rate, have no risk of gel leakage, and also boast a lower capsular contracture rate. They also provide the structure and natural feel of a real breast, so patients can feel comfortable in their decision to receive implants.
Because we support women with their breast health, and feel that the ideal implant is the best and safest choice for breast implants, we are offering the following promotions during the month of October:
- Pacific Center for Plastic Surgery is offering a pair of complimentary Ideal implants (value $2,500) to women who come in for a breast implant exchange, and/or those who bring in a mammogram breast cancer screening report.
- Additionally, 10% of proceeds will go to support Plasticos Foundation, a non-profit organization which provides post-mastectomy breast reconstruction to uninsured or insured women, free of charge to those who cannot otherwise afford it.

Wow! Not only am I thrilled with my results, I also must say that this experience was so much easier than I thought it would be! From the virtual consultation, to the virtual appointments that I had after my surgery… they made it so easy to check in with my doctor. I don’t live in Newport, but it didn’t matter. I was still able to get the surgery that I wanted there! 10/10 would recommend!!
