San Jose del Cabo Medical Trip

The Plasticos Foundation, headed by Dr. Nichter, Dr. Horowitz, along with a small volunteer team recently returned from San Jose del Cabo, Mexico where they performed several post mastectomy breast reconstructions in addition to many cleft lip revision surgeries as part of their mission to help those in need who cannot afford medical treatment or reside in areas where proper care isn’t available.
The Plasticos Foundation has not historically performed breast reconstructions, however due to the many requests and stories of women trying to rebuild their lives after battling cancer, they were compelled to offer help.

The medical mission trip was made possible by surgical team Dr. Jed Horowitz, Dr. Larry Nichter, Dr. Stephen Westerhout and nurse Mia Powell. BlueNet Hospital, Dr. Juan Chavez, Dr. Raul Rivas and Dr. Jose Garcia Vinay were gracious enough to offer their facility and supplies to the Plasticos team amidst an unexpected public hospital strike which nearly pre-empted the trip all together. And, donors Dicko, Katherine and Stars & Stripes extended extraordinary generosity and kindness.
Wow! Not only am I thrilled with my results, I also must say that this experience was so much easier than I thought it would be! From the virtual consultation, to the virtual appointments that I had after my surgery… they made it so easy to check in with my doctor. I don’t live in Newport, but it didn’t matter. I was still able to get the surgery that I wanted there! 10/10 would recommend!!
