Tummy Tuck

Throughout Orange County, patients visit the practices of Larry S. Nichter, M.D., M.S., F.A.C.S. and Jed H. Horowitz, M.D., F.A.C.S. regarding their tummy tuck options.

At the Pacific Center for Plastic Surgery, Dr. Horowitz and Dr. Nichter each have over 25 years of experience in the field of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Board certified members of the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), Dr. Nichter and Dr. Horowitz are highly-qualified plastic surgeons with extensive knowledge and experience in the field; they can accurately asses your concerns and create a proper treatment plan for you during an initial consultation.

Tummy Tuck Surgery Candidates

Tummy tuck surgery, also referred to as "abdominoplasty," is a procedure in which Dr. Horowitz and Dr. Nichter are able to aid patients in slimming a protruding abdominal region. Ideal for both men and women who are displeased with the appearance of their midsection, ideal candidates may also include patients who are experiencing a bulge in the abdomen, due to:

  • Age
  • Previous pregnancy
  • Fluctuation in weight
  • Loss of skin elasticity

If you feel that you may fall into one or more of the above categories, tummy tuck surgery may be the right option for you. Dr. Nichter or Dr. Horowitz can further discuss abdominoplasty and explore your goals with you at the Plastic Center for Plastic Surgery.

The Procedure

During tummy tuck surgery, which may last between two to five hours, Dr. Horowitz or Dr. Nichter will create an incision spanning from hipbone to hipbone in which excess skin, fat, and tissue will be removed. During this time, weak abdominal muscles will also be tightened and sutured for a slimmer appearance. An additional incision around the belly button may be needed if there is excess fat that needs to be removed, during which a new belly button may be constructed.

If needed, our Newport Beach tummy tuck surgeons can also combine liposuction ("lipoplasty") during surgery. This will help to create optimal results, and contribute effectively toward a more slenderized and toned mid-section. Lasting up to 10 years or longer, tummy tuck surgery results will depend on the patient's eating and exercise habits.

Should patients exhibit only minimal excess skin and fat in the abdominal region, mini tummy tuck surgery can also be performed. Consisting of a shorter scar, less downtime, and a quicker recovery period, mini tummy surgery is a welcomed alternative for patients with only slight protruding in the abdominal area.

By helping to rid patients of unsightly sagging and excess skin, our Newport Beach liposuction specialists Dr. Nichter or Dr. Horowitz can help you attain the slimmer waistlines you desire. They encourage you to view their individual before and after tummy tuck surgery photos located in the photo gallery for further insight.
