Breast Augmentation
Renowned plastic surgeons Jed H. Horowitz, M.D., F.A.C.S. and Larry S. Nichter, M.D., M.S., F.A.C.S. have been providing breast augmentation surgery at the Pacific Center for Plastic Surgery for over 25 years.
Holding board certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS), Dr. Horowitz and Dr. Nichter understand the importance that a successful plastic surgery experience can have upon a patient's life. Steadfast in providing patients with shapelier, more attractive breasts, Newport Beach body contouring specialists Dr. Nichter and Dr. Horowitz have dedicated their time to fully assessing the concerns of their patients in order to help them choose the most suitable procedure.
Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation, also referred to as "augmentation mammaplasty," is designed for women looking to increase the volume of their breasts. Patients may be ideal candidates for the procedure if they have:
- Realistic expectations
- Variation in breast size
- Underdeveloped breasts
- Good health
Should a patient exhibit one or more of the above qualities, Dr. Horowitz or Dr. Nichter may be able to help her reach her goal of attaining beautifully-enhanced breasts. Due to instances such as extreme weight loss, pregnancy, or congenital abnormalities, patients may opt to change the size and shape of their breasts to attain a more pleasing appearance.
Breast Implant Types and Incisions
Dr. Nichter and Dr. Horowitz offer two types of breast implants; saline and silicone gel filled.
Comprised of a saltwater solution, saline breast implants may be prone to rippling, rupturing, and hardness; however, they are still an excellent choice for patients seeking beautiful, new curves.
Recently re-approved by the FDA, silicone gel implants also offer patients a long-lasting solution to increasing the volume of their breasts. Filled with expandable gel, these breast implants provide the patient with more natural-looking and feeling breasts that are less prone to rippling and rupturing.
Breast implants can be inserted through the armpit, under the breast, under the areola, and through the belly button, otherwise known as "transumbilical breast augmentation" (T.U.B.A), in which Dr. Horowitz and Dr. Nichter can sculpt the desired shape of the breasts with minimal scarring. Depending on the patient's goal and the surgeon's recommendations, breast implants can be placed either behind the breast muscle ("submuscular") or in front of the muscle ("subglandular").

Newport Beach breast implant revision patients can also turn to the Pacific Center for Plastic Surgery, where Dr. Nichter or Dr. Horowitz will be able to suggest which breast implant type, size, and insertion method will be best suited to help you reach your goals. Should breast augmentation surgery be of further interest of you, Dr. Horowitz or Dr. Nichter will be happy to further discuss its benefits with you during an initial consultation.
